Working Principle of KOSUN Oilfield Drilling Vertical Centrifuge

Vertical Cuttings Dryer (also called vertical centrifuge) is a vertical type centrifuge that has been proven to be one of the most effective waste management equipment for oil- or synthetic- based drilling operations.

The Vertical Cuttings Dryer uses centrifuge force to dry drilled solids in oil or synthetic base fluids. A stainless steel screen bowl traps“wet” solids and accelerates them up 820RPM with G force up to 420. Liquid is forced through the screen bowl openings, while “dry” solids are extracted by the angled flights attached to the cone, which rotate slightly slower than the bowl. Tungsten carbide protects the flights from abrasive solids and ensures long operational life. This aids in maintaining a constant gap between the scroll and screen bowl, which is crucial for proper operation.

KOSUN oilfield drilling vertical centrifuge returns and recycles large percentages of SBM (Synthetic Base Mud) and OBM (Oil Base Mud) to an active system which in the past was lost as waste products to the environment. KOSUN oilfield VERTI-G cuttings dryer can reduce total discharged OOC below 6%, which is currently the discharge limit in many areas of the world, in many areas of the world, our goal is 5% total OBM discharge to the environment, and our goal is not only to reach 5%,but also reduce the percentage further.
